02 sensor help
I have a 2003 SC 430, previous owner hollowed out the Catalytic converter‘s and put in a cat back magnflow exhaust system. I continually get P0153 and P0156. I understand it’s the malfunction of the O2 sensors but can anyone tell me how to trick these out to clear for New York State inspection? I really really do not want to replace both Cadillac converter‘s. Thank you any help is severely appreciated !

Try this, it might work. Clear the engine check by disconnecting the battery or use Techstream. Run for about 30 miles then take to the smog check .
Good luck.

I have a hand held scanner, so I clear CEL through that, do you think disconnecting the battery will be better to try and pass? I need my car to pass New York State inspection by tomorrow... so I need help... thanks

Just clear the code, run the car for 10-20 miles, then smog check.

I have tried the disconnecting of the battery, cleared cel but codes still say p0136 and p0156. Says CKT malfunction? Tried spark plug non foulers, cel continues to appear. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it an electrical issue or do you think the 02 sensors are bad?
Thanks

My 07 Corolla had the same problem. I just cleared the check engine light, drove 20 miles then smog check. It passed the test. The check engine came back next day. In fact, it's still on now, but who cares. I will do the same thing next smog check.
Your car will fail the test if check engine is lit but your sensor won't, at least in California.

Part of me thinks your rear O2's are disconnected BUT once you get them connected you are going to get a Catalytic Convertor inefficiency code.
I think you will probably end up replacing your cats.

My apology in advance for being blunt but please get your car repaired rather than trying to get around the testing. Get your car repaired so that your car can legally pass the smog test portion of your state's car inspection. They test for smog and want folks to repair their cars that are not in smog compliance for a very good reason. If everyone cheated on the testing instead of getting their cars repaired and in smog compliance the air would be pretty bad to breath.

So Jazzy, what did the mechanic end up saying? Was it an easy fix?
