2002 SC430 Rear lid doesn't go down when top goes up.
I'm hoping to buy this SC430. 45k Miles for 9k.....was a theft recovery. Still looks great other than this one issue. I really appreciate any advice you can offer regarding what might be causing this and the potential repairs involved. Thank you in advance!

You need to put some shims under the trunk hinges. You can buy them at an auto part store, but they are cheaper at Harbor Freight.

I will admit it is counter intuitive. You raise the hinges and it lowers the trunk lid

That's kinda what my truck looked like after some bad repair work. The shop admitted that they got it wrong and let me take it to the Lexus dealer's repair shop, who fixed it for $5K, which the first shop paid without hassle. Bottom line, HOPEFULLY it is just a shim....
