Default Anyone have an opinion on Nankang Tires?

As a general rule I stay away from Chinese tires. Since their tire industry is still developing, you never know what you are going to get and tires aren't something you want to mess with.

What is interesting is several name brand tire places carry a tire made by the Nankang tire company. You can get them at Discount Tires, Walmart and Big O tires.

They are made by a Taiwanese company that started business in 1959. http://nankangusa.com/

My problem is I have 20 inch rims on my car, so finding affordable 235/35/20 tires is harder.

Anyone have any experience with one of their tires? Especially the NS-20 tire in particular.

Something like this is always an option too. http://www.bestusedtires.com/4-used-...-tire-102076-1

i bought a set of blizzaks a couple of months a go. There were new though. They came from a closed Sears store. I talked to them on the phone and got a little extra off the price. A new set of ws80's for 316.79 total.

I would not trust my life to bargain priced made in China tires. My experience with similar low end Chinese products (mostly junk some of it dangerous) has been poor at best. Having said that the tires may be just fine as I have no special knowledge of them, or experience with them.

I know a few people that have bought them & didn't have any issues with them. A buddy of mine has them on his BMW & really likes them. He says that they are pretty quiet, gets good wear out of them & because of the price, if he had to replace a tire, they are very affordable. I always stayed away from the "cheaper" brands, with the thought that they would not hold up or weren't any good. In my opinion, I wouldn't think that a place like Discount Tire would sell a product that they didn't have some faith in. I know they offer warranties, etc....but they wouldn't sell anything that would make them liable, of a faulty product/brand.....would they ?

I had Nankang on my sc430 for close to a year now, very good tires. I had Michelin, Pirelli, Yokohama, kumho before I don’t feel the difference besides the price. I do drive hard but like racing hard. My friend has Nankang on his M5 too. Go for it, you won’t regret.

p.S: do not buy Chinese brands tires that are not well known because they change the brand every few months.

I have used both Nankang NS-2s and NS-20s on my old GS350. They're good tires for stretching and I've never popped a bead or had any failure with them so safety was not a concern for me. But they don't last very long and they get really loud on the freeway once they wear down. Good cheap tire. In the long run I don't think they lasted more than +20k for me and I've bought multiple sets of Nankang tires.
