Default Self leveling Headaches... Err Headlights

Trying to get rid of error light on cluster. Took apart switch above rear axle and found corroded contacts. Cleaned up and had some success, but stumbled upon a replacement part that may work. Ordered two 2004 Prius self leveling switches. Will keep you all posted.

$55 each from Amazon Prime. Worth a shot. Seems 04 Prius vehicles had a similar set up with the switch, just different linkages.

Thank you, I am planning on arbitrarily replacing it as well. Can't see how it could be in any better shape than the rear was.

Default Got them in the mail today...

Same specs externally. I could ohm them and compare to old ones, but not sure what correct baseline would be anyway.

WOOO WHO! Way to go!

So to sum up, I don't have to take apart my linkages or anything. I can just buy the prius replacemtns and everything fits together as is?

It truly was "plug and play" as far as the switches. Where you have to be careful is tightening the "arm" back on the switch. You have to make sure the shaft on the switch is pushed up into the arm properly as ypu are turning the nut. The arm is "keyed" to allow that switchs shaft to be mounted one way only . if it's not seated firmly in the arm, when you tighten the nut it will keep spinning the shaft and damage the internals of the switch. Use that arm as a "backer" wrench if you will. The front was the easiest IMO. Two bolts to remove switch housing, took arm off switch. Removed three phillips screws that held on switch. Remove switch, then unplug connector. Reverse from there to install.
