Pulled in a parking lot with the top down, closed the top no problem. I did release the button before the front windows went up,but I had heard the chime. An hour later returned to the vehicle and tried to put the top down and nothing happens. The red light on the button blinks as it always does.

Never had this problem, checked the retractable cover in the trunk and it is in place-top just suddenly does not work. Any thoughts?

 

Is yours a 2002 by any chance, whether it is or isn't this seems to be the year of the convertible problems. The front windows don't need to go up for the chime to go off, only the 1/4 windows in the back. The red light is blinking or is it solid red? I've never had mine blink before. I'm following this post cause I could totally see this happening to mine in the future with the bs I've had to deal with lately.

 

Mine is a 2007. And the red light blinks when I push the down button, but nothing happens.

 

Ok, got it to work. I recycled the button in the glove box 2 or 3 times, tried the top again and it worked. Checked all fuses and they are fine. So it might be that glove box switch, so I'll look closer at that this week end.

 

I have owned my SC430 since 2009, never knew this switch existed....
A friend of mine was complaining about this same issue and without this group I probably never would have figured this out.
Now both the trunk button and her top opens...

Basicly, the first thing you should check when the top does not go down is the valet button in the glove box, then the tawner cover.
