Default Weatherstrip preventative maintenance

I did several searches on this forum and did not find one that specifically advised what to do for preventative maintenance on the various weather seals on the SC. There probably are such references - I just did not find them very easily. So I thought starting at new thread with this subject might prove useful.

I've read several such threads on the Mercedes, BMW, Volvo and Miata forums that talked about how to keep the existing seals fresh, pliable and extend their useful life. Most discuss applying a quality protectant like this:

Nextzett 914806615 "Gummi Polege Stift" Rubber Care Stick
Amazon Amazon

another is Dupont's 303 Protectant.
Amazon Amazon

From what I've gathered, applying this every year (or every 6 months if needed) keeps seals about as good as new, even restoring those that have flattened or become stiff or cracked.

Anyone used such product and advise how they performed?

Cheers from Seattle
Rich

If you bought a gallon, how do you apply. The small bottle I have has foam applicator tip. Very similar to shoe polish. I suspect my seals will need multiple applications before they are fully resuscitated.

I have a dispenser and I squirt some on a piece of cloth and and wipe away. Versus foam, I prefer the small piece of cloth, where you optimize the application.

This stuff is awesome....a little expensive...used it on my 20 y/o NSX...actually eliminated a squeak around the targa top.
