Looking for a SC430 specialist in San Diego
Hello,
I just purchased a 1-owner 2005 SC430 with 75K miles and we love it. I have a list of classic issues that require some attention but I have yet to find a mechanic who is as knowledgable as the folks in this forum. Let me know if anyone can help (do the work or know someone who can) with the following:
- driver door will not lock (accuator)
- rear view mirror vibrates
- map lights not working (dealer wants to replace the unit, part is $900+)
- rubber window trim deteriorating
Upgrade the Nav unit
- Has a Gen 2 Nav, can't find a Gen 4 on Ebay or anyone who even understands what I am talking about
- Would also like to install a backup camera
Would it be easier to replace the stereo unit and/or the touch screen which supports a updated Nav and backup camera? Or try to find a Gen 4 player and add somethink like a Naviks?
I looked on Crutchefield and they don't list any units for an SC430.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. Sorry to say I am not very handy...

Google local Lexus indy guys, and any competent one should be able to fix those classic issues.
For installing a backup cam, there is no need to upgrade Nav or radio, you just need to order something like Naviks and a license plate cam.
And for navigation, nobody uses car nav these days anyway so gen2 vs gen4 wouldn't matter.

Thanks for your response. When you say to google "Lexus indy guys" what do you mean exactly? I have contacted many local Lexus and Japanese repair shops but I have yet to speak with someone who was as familiar with the SC 430 as folks here....
