Air Conditioner:not a leak or the compressor
I'm an idiot. I figured it out. Ac was blowing warm air. Used a fancy machine my friend has that also vacuums the system. He didn't calibrate the gauges. So we couldn't figure out why the pressures were what they were.
Took it home and used my cheap gauge after I posted this. Turns out it was simply a low charge. I added one can and now all is good.
If nothing else. Here is the right way.
With ac ac turned on, is the compressor turning. Not just the pulley.
Yes?
read the high and low side pressures.
Low is near the oil dip stick. Marked L
high is in the front grill.
Check the local air temperature
look up the correct pressures on a r134a chart.
Example for 90f air temp. Low side should be 45-55 psi high side 258-275
if both are low. Add refrigerant. A 12 oz can will raise the low side about 10 psi. Do not overfill. The total amount is on the sticker under the hood. At eye level when the hood is open.
If low side is high and high side is low. Likely a bad compressor. See attached.

So where did the charge go? You had a slow leak? Will you have to load again after sometime? Or is it one of those sealer charge as well?
