2004 SC430 change Nav system to English
Hello, I have imported a 2004 Toyota Soarer "badged Lexus SC430" fromJapan into New Zealnd. From all the "experts" there is no way to get Enlish speech/titles/touch screen buttons and New Zealand maps into the navigation system. Unless I replace the sterio system with a complete new one that does the lot. This I don't wish to do as it will signifigantly change the car. Any help out there?

You have a rare (non-Japan owned) car being a Soarer. Sorry but I don't have the answer but suspect that someone else here on the forum will.

Why don't you get a Nav disk in English on ebay for $10, put it in and see what happens. My guess is that the manual language is in firm ware and screen map language is from the disk. The good news is that few people use Nav for navigation these days. What you will really need Nav for is to program some speed dial numbers so that you can call up to six people by pressing a button on your steering column. But that programming is a one time thing. You can probably accomplish that by comparing some pictures of Japanese vs English manuals.
