Default Lights in the trunk?

I noticed the other day that it was pretty dark inside the trunk of my 2003 SC430. I see that one of the two lights in the trunk is not working. How hard is it to remove the bad bulb and replace it? I am hoping that it is just a burned out bulb and not something worse! Thanks!

Its very easy small screw driver on edge to raise lip and lens will snap off

You can check it with a voltmeter to see if it is receiving voltage. It could either be bad bulbs or a bad fuse. (You can check the bulbs with an Ohm-meter. The bulbs ought to show as a very low impedance, not quite a short, just not an open.) You can also replace the incandescent bulbs with LEDs so you don't have to worry about the trunk not being fully latched and draining your battery because the lights are on where you can't see them.

BTW putting those 5 SMD LED bulbs in place of the regular bulbs in the trunk area makes a big difference - try it out. Very nice

In fact, replace all your incandescent bulbs with LEDs. They sell whole package on Ebay and Amazon. I did mine and love it.

I finally changed out the trunk light that was not working with a new bulb and lo and behold it still did not light up! My wife suggested trying the other bulb that was in the package of 2 bulbs I had purchased. Again it still did not work! The other light in the trunk lights up just fine. I would think that both are on the same fuse so it would be hard to imagine it could be a fuse. I'm in Florida on a 3 month vacation and do not have a meter or any tools for that matter. Little things like this tend to bug me! Thanks!

Swap the two light fixtures around.
left to right and right to left...I mean unplug the fixture and move it to the other side.

bgw , you think just the plug to that fixture became unplugged? To change the bulb he only had to take the lens off.

Does the light fixture just pop out or does the panel the light is mounted in need to be removed?

I'll snap some pic for you on removing the lens and the bulb tomorrow.

Hey guys, I just changed the trunk lights to LED the other day and I popped the entire structure out with the plastic removal tool.
They look similar to the door lights.
Then removed the lens, changed the light bulbs, replaced lens, plugged back in and pushed the light structure back in the trunk panel.

I found it easier to pry it on the shorter length of the sides. Hope this helps.
