Default Successfully added new touchscreen with HDMI input

For years I stared at my stock touch screen.. angry that it was basically ugly and useless. Well last weekend I finally put the finishing touches on installing a 7 inch touch capable LCD system.

https://www.adafruit.com/products/1931 (I have the touch version of this, not sure where it went on the site)

I'm happy except for the terrible GLARE going on this screen.

My only ideas are to coat the screen in anti-glare material (but risk the touch capability)

OR

Tint my windshield (which is illegal, unless there is a clear tint I can try??)

I'm open to ideas, and if you want to ask questions about my build feel free

You might check to see if any of the screen protectors available have any anti-glare qualities. Is the glare worse than the OEM screen?

This idea might be tough to swallow.

Find out what the options are in terms of replacing the factory screen that came with the unit. There might be more than one replacement available and perhaps one of those has the qualities you want.

I think I got a bit too aggressive clearing the stock housing.. and removed the circuitry that enables the tilting , opening, closing of the navigation door. That angle makes the glare much much worse.

@LexMan2003 - I might keep this as is, but get an anti glare layover .. going to continue getting the wiring in place and see how I like it.

@Lexzilla - Yes my stereo has an AUX input installed.. so I just plug any/all audio into that.

I'll get pics up later this week, with some steps I took. Maybe someone can comment on where I got too aggressive

1. What do you mean, 'cleaned out' the controller for tilt/etc? I guess you are assuming without stating, that there's no way to reinstall/reintigrate the tilt/door options with this rig?
2> I don't see any HDMI plug...where do you plug in?
3 Was this intended to have a replacement NAV system, eihter from your smart phone or ??? Obviously I have no idea what you mean by 'ugly' except the form factor of a turn of millenium NAV syste, even with the "latest" dvd/OEM NAV?
4. I assume this would cost a heck of a lot more from a privatew shop-how many hours did it take?
5. Other than reinstall the door/tilt, there are probably a few spray on no or reduced glare prodcts...I have no idea how even coverage would be, but it WOULD be thinner, and prob. less likely to become inssensitve to touch
6. As a last resort you could try different mil. thickness of either theatrical color gel (dark grey?) or maybe window tint (my Subaru backseat has incredibly thin tinting film..biggest prob is not puncturing it with fingernails!
See ya-and yeah, post the whole set of directions once you start a no-glare tinting company!

Good job on the change out. Does the new screen still tilt, fold in like the stock one? If it does, was any custom bracket needed?

Good pictures of the process ecpeters. Could you add descriptions to the pictures so we'll know what is going on with each?

ECPeters, awesome build! Great work! Do you have any problems with the glare also? Do the motorized doors work? I believe you said they are not functional? Will you go back and make them functional again? How about the tilt mechanism, is it functional? Did you add a mobile carrier card to get 4g and mobile data? In any case, amazing work.

My question also as that's a deal breaker.
