Would it be ok to use 0-20w oil in my 02 sc430. That is what my 13 gs350 requires ? I live in FL.

I was told by more than one Lexus dealer that you should put in it what came in it. I know some have done differently. I still use 5W-30 conventional.

it would be a problem for the vvti system. This system is set to operate under a specific pressure and oil weight. The hydraulic lifters are valved to the 5-30 weight. They would bleed down to quickly. You need to run the factory weight oil.

Always follow the manufacturer's recommendation. 5W-30.

Default Don't use 0w-20 or 0w-40

Considering our SC430 engines are designed for 30w oil at operating temperature, using 20w or 40w is not a smart decision on my opinion. I agree that the absolute safest choice is to stick with the manufacturer recommended 5w-30 dinosaur juice. I've been using 0w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic oil with excellent results. All said, ultimately it's your car and you should use whatever oil you want.

Hi, I purchased our SC 430 3 months ago, & it's ready for an Oil change. Living in South Australia our temperatures ranges between + 40F Winters & up to 110F Summers.
I guess similar weather to S. California. My question is, what oil grade do you guys in similar climate use. Would 5w 30 be ideal or maybe 10w 40.

Thank you
Chris.....From OZ.

Here in Texas we have similar temperatures (actually colder and hotter than what you listed) and I just use the recommended oil weights without any issue.
