Thanks - I did read through this thread. Are you talking about a different thread? There's no link to one in your post.
I am going to try cleaning them tomorrow, but just in case I want to know what to buy. I thought they were located on the front left and rear right, as ShawnOk mentioned? Been getting a lot of people saying differing things on where they are though. How many total, and where are they exactly? I watched that video above but it wasn't very helpful, and the music was really annoying.

I added more info in post 15 above.
There are only two sensors, both on the drivers side in the wheel wells, one front, one rear...
Look at the illustration in post 6, they are called, Height Control Sensors.
The video in post no. 4 is not an SC430, but it looks like they are in the same location. The video is only showing the removal.

Glad BGW was able to chime in and that he answered your questions. I did incorrectly say Right Rear. The sensors are located in FRONT LEFT and REAR LEFT wheel wells. Sorry. As for the parts, I'm not quite sure how you would be able to diagnose which sensor has gone bad as it is a paired system. I guess visual inspection would be the first troubleshooting step. If they look rusted or broken (as mine had a broken lever arm). Next, cleaning both might be the next plan of attack. Other than that, it would be taking a chance and buying both front and rear, and then swapping one or the other and see which makes the light go away. Other option, take it Lexus and ask them to diagnose which one it is. If your dealer is nicer than mine, he might not charge you the diagnosis fee as I was charged (or just play dumb and let them tell you what's going on).

Made an appt. with Lexus. I specifically asked if there would be a charge to diagnose the issue. They told me no. I get there and they said "Okay it'll be $139 to diagnose the issue". I explained that the woman who I made the appt with told me there would be no charge. Had to go to a service manager who eventually said to waive it after he looked up my call.
Anyway, they checked it, and wanted $1400 to replace both sensors. They said one is "frozen" and the other has corrosion. I passed, they're insane. I'll take it apart myself and see what I can do. I did check ebay for some used ones like ShawnOk did but I didn't see any for a 2005. Are there any other places I can look?

Do a search for 05 Lexus height sensors. Lexus re-used the same sensor in their other cars. The only thing different might be the lever, but you could take that part off the SC430 and swap it.
I find when I am searching ebay that if the part is not SC430 specific, there are more options and the parts are usually listed much cheaper.

Check this link, I think these sensors were only used on the 2002-2005, then they went to the new lights
http://toyotapartscatalog.com/lexus/...eight-control/
Also, the sensors have different part numbers according to that Lexus parts catalog.
Front 89406-24050
Rear 89408-24060
BTW, when you were at the dealer, did you get the parts guy to give you the part number and the years they were used?
If not, call them or another dealer!

BTW, I just looked at the part for the IS300 and the first five digits are the same for that car and our car. The last five digits are different, which tells me the last five digits relates to the car model and I have seen plenty of parts that the last five digits start with 24xxx

I just did you a favor and called my Lexus Parts guy. He confirmed that the first five digits are the part number of a specific item, the second five digits are the specific model and any part that has a third set of two numbers is the color of the item.
From 1993-2010, the xxxxx-24xxx is for the SC
Then 2011- current the xxxxx-24xxx is for the RC
Like retro said, look for those parts with the same first five numbers but different last five numbers and they belong to another model but the exact same part and you may save some money!
Thanks for planting that seed Retro! I became very interested in the Toyota part number system.

Hence why I managed to get my hands on the Toyota/Lexus Electronic Parts Catalog
I can look up a part and then find out alternates and what models it goes in.
Not easy to get my hands on it, though.

I believe the guy that I pulled these parts for should still have two pairs off the previously stated SC's, already programmed and in working order. I will contact him and get a sit rep. If he has them and wants to sell them I will get you in touch with him so you can deal directly with him. PM your cell phone number please.

Retro, where did you get the Toyota/Lexus parts catalog? That sounds like a pretty valuable resource!
