Default Trunk Lifts failing

The hydraulic lifts on the trunk of my wife's 2003 SC430 are failing. Has anyone purchased an aftermarket set of these that they can recommend as good quality replacements?

Thanks

Check out ebay. There's quite a few replacements available. There's also a thread on this forum and a DIY. Try the search feature for "trunk lifters" or "trunk struts"

Easy fix.

$25 on eBay for struts.

5 minute installation. And I was drunk and/or high. I don't remember much.

My trunk lifts fine now.

It's a common problem that most on CL have encountered. Buy the $25 ones on ebay and install without even using a screwdriver. They just pop out.. or go to the dealer and pay $500.

This is where I got mine a year ago. Work great and are easy to install. It helps a great deal if you have another person to hold the trunk lid. I propped mine with a stick.

I'm a moron and I did this successfully. The hardest part is to not drop the clip and lose it.

Got burned on my fleabay purchase last year. POS! Wasted $25. My old one was better. Now riding on the old struts in the back.

I highly suggest for buyers to spend the extra $$ for the OEM or else a very reputable brand.

Put on aftermarket struts for $40. They work, but not as well as the OEM. Lexus OEM parts are very expensive.

Thanks everyone. I was mostly concerned about the quality of the aftermarket units. It sounds like they are fine. I ordered the units from liftsupportdepot.com. Thanks for the feedback.

Mandy, what did the seller say when you told him they were defective?
Did they ignore you?
If so, please look back at your purchases and let us know the name and where the purchase was made.
Also, did you leave negative feedback on the website?
BTW, where did you make that purchase?

Thanks SC Brother!
I just want to make sure I do not purchase fron this LOSER!

I will check it out and will post the seller's name. Piece of junk. My old one was 50% better.

You're right. I don't know why often OEM is thought of as the last option only to be used if all other options fail. I like a real company behind my purchases whenever possible.

I installed the aftermarket struts from liftsupportdepot.com over the weekend. It was VERY easy to do, and turned out great. They work just like the OEM units did when they were new. I'm completely satisfied with the results and I saved a bundle. Thanks everyone

The POS rear lifts was sold by "sanlongparts"

Please do not purchase from this seller.

Suggest that you get them from other proven sellers.
