Driver's door window replacement

Over the weekend, someone (likely some punk teenager) broke my driver's door window, stealing only my $30 Belkin AirCast Bluetooth adapter, leaving behind two pair of sunglasses worth considerably more.

I'm in the process of getting quotes, and they seem to vary wildly here in the Dallas area:
$169 (?!)
$335 (national glass repair place)
$541
$750 (seems more reasonable)

I've also gotten a separate install quote from a reputable non-dealer in the $350 range.

I'd love to try and do the work myself, but there aren't gaping holes in the door like there are in other cars. From what two installers have told me, they even expect lots of cursing and bleeding knuckles.

Has anyone had their window replaced? Anyone done the work themselves?
Either way, I'm leaning toward a more expensive job, as I'm concerned that cheap glass and/or cheap installation = leaking window.

Thanks.

I haven't had any window work done on my SC430, just windshield replacements on other vehicles. So unfortunately, I can't give you any real advice, other than to be sure that they adjust it properly so that the triangle weatherstripping (around the rear view mirror triangle) doesn't get stretched too far and tear. If your weatherstripping is already torn (most do), you might see if your insurance will cover replacing that along with your window though (to get rid of the wind noise in that area).

Great to hear from you again!
