Lexus vs Infiniti
I read in one of the popular car magazines once that Lexus launched sales just two weeks before Infiniti in 1990...& Infiniti has been trying to catch up ever since!!!

The whole story might be completely different when at 1989 if Infiniti were to use different ad agency to do their TV ads at the time. Remember, their ads were all talking about serenity, showing no cars but just water streams and rocks. If i recalled correctly, that ad agency went bankrupt not long afterwards. The 1990 Q45 was a better car than th LS400 in my opinion at the time, just the wrong approach about how to do the introduction to the U.S..

One of the problems INFINITI has been plagued with since 1990 is their continued failed attempts with BOLD risky styling... It has been a continued effort towards "love it or hate it" styling which when you turn around & look at it 5-10 yrs later the styling become dated, unlike the classic benchmark styling LEXUS has come to be known for. Just look back at an older Infiniti compared to an older lex & I'm willing to bet most people would gasp at the difference in the kindness FATHER TIME has showed between the two.

I drove both back in 1989. It didn't help that the Infinity's brakes squealed during my test drive. I bought the Lexus. What a deal it was at around $38K fully loaded. What a car!

That's funny I own a Lexus IS and a G37s Coupe and I cant say anything bad about them
other then they did a good job advertising that got me hooked on both....
Yeah both cars have pros and cons but what best excuse to upgrade correct? lol..

great catch, I remember those stupid ads, ridiculous!
