2005 Fog light bulb replacement
The OEM bulbs are H3 65 watts, and naturally is not an off the shelf bulb. My autoparts store carries H3 in 55 watts and 100 watts, would either or both of these be an OK replacement?

You should be fine with the 55 watt bulb. Sewell Lexus Parts also sells the fog lamp bulb rated at 12V, 55W.

Sometimes vendors play spec'manship games. Make sure that the bulbs are spec'd in the same way to get the same results. Some may be spec'd at 14 V and others may be spec'd at 12 V. (The 14 V spec will yield higher wattage and higher lumens for the same bulb.)

When one of my fog lights blew, I decided to install H3 6000k HID kit. It was dead easy to mount. The ballast was cabled tied to part of the body under the plastic tray.

Is there an easy way to get to the driver's side light? I've got the wheels off and have removed the fender liner, but it seems like you also have to take off the washer fluid reservoir to change the bulb?? I'd love to replace them with LEDS, like someone suggested above....

There are lots of DIYs to remove the cover, just do a search...

For the front driver's fog i went under the front lip. I was able to get my hand in there enough after removing about 6 clips. I first tried with the wheel well but the washer reservoir was in the way. I felt like dropping either bumpers was too much of a headache. I've changed my side markers all the time and there's enough room to get a small stubby screwdriver in there once you remove the wheel well lining and a few clips/screws. This technique would allow you to get the side marker bulbs also.
