I believe that we all have Takata. But from 2005 and on there was a design change or else there was a modification to those years going forward.

You are correct -- Just found a report that the exploding airbags are Lexus Sc430 from 2002 to 2005.

Is this the same as the earlier recall or will this be a completely new one?

I know mine has had two recalls done and I think one of them was an airbag.

This is right off the lexus site I did a search for recalls and nothing is listed. Car and Driver may have this wrong because the original recall 2 of them effected the 2002 to 2004. The claim was that the air bag serial number changed because of modifications from 2005 going forward. There seems to be a lot of confusion right now. I plan to keep and eye on this. If you look up the air bag part for 2005 to 2010 its the same part number .

This was a search from NHTSA recall site I got the same result on lexus site

Besides the VIN search tool you just used, NHTSA offers additional safety information based on a vehicle's make, model, and model year and not tied to any particular VIN. A search by vehicle make, model, and model year gives you access to information about technical service bulletins, NHTSA investigations, and owner complaints, as well as safety recalls on aftermarket equipment that is often not linked to a particular VIN or even to your vehicle's manufacturer.

To search NHTSA's safety information based on your vehicle's make, model, and model year, please go to the Safety Issues section opens new window and follow the instructions there.

Recall information for this manufacturer is only available going back to January 01, 1999. If your vehicle was manufactured before this date, please contact the manufacturer for possible additional recall information.

Thanks for the link, DaveGS4! My SC430 shows no active recalls.

Remember that not all 2002 - 2004 SC430's were affected by this recall. I have a 2004 SC430 that escaped it ( so far ).

I called Toyota/Lexus about it and gave them my VIN. I had the recall done last year. Toyota/Lexus said that since I had the recall done (as shown in their records), my 2002 didn't require the new replacement.
