Default New airbag recall on SC430 and many other models

Pretty serious, the affected units could send metal shrapnel into you. Deaths have been reported. The first link says 2003-2005 SC430s are affected, the second says 2002-2004. At any rate heads up for you SC430 folks:

Bummer. I wonder if that affects those that already went through the earlier air bag recall?

That's interesting the official lexus recall did not include the 2005 sc430 it was just the 2002 to 2004 then later there was another recall on same years but another part of the air bag system

The new DSC special service campaign only effects 02-03 SC430's and a single 2004 SC430. No 2005's are involved.

If you have already had your airbag inflator replaced previously, then your car will not be effected. The cars that were inspected and did not require replacement, will now have those inflators replaced.

I had my passenger airbag inspected earlier this year and it didn't need to be replaced. Now it sounds like the airbag inflator needs to be replaced after all.

So far I have not received any new recall notice from Lexus. Do I just call the dealer to schedule the replacement? Mine is a 2002 model.

The remedy repair is not yet available, so no new letters have been sent out.

I had the front passenger air bag inflator checked but not replaced in March 2014.
This week I received a second notice to return to the dealer to have the inflator model replaced.
Will schedule soon. I think this will require the R & R of the complete dashboard. Is this correct?
