Default Center Console Upper Latch

The center console latch for the lid has broken on my 430. This is the spring loaded push mechanism that latches the top-most lid. The little plastic part that hooks into the catch on the tray broke, and this plastic is tough to mend (JB Weld has worked, and neither has a two-part accelerated 'super glue' made for 'hard-to-glue' plastics (according to LocTite). I've been using hook-and-loop as a make-shift latch (or the lid springs up), but the adhesive doesn't stick well to that black plastic in hot weather.

I've looked at the parts blow-up on Sewell's site (assembly 5806583327 -- part 58971 - "Lock Console Compartment door" that may be the latch) but the drawings are less-than-clear. There's also part 58908A listed as a lock sub-assembly. I think that may be for the next compartment.

Anybody have an idea? I'm waiting for Sewell to reply, but that I'd ask here too.

From my invoice for the latch, it's Part Num. 58971-30050-C0 WE03L11 LOCK, CO. List is $61.94. Sewell sells them for $45.79, but I paid 11.48 for shipping to NC. It's easy to replace. Since I forked over the money, I always now hold the button in, close the top, and then release the latch. No more slamming it down. Hope this helps

Yes, that helps. Thanks. I'm glad to hear it was not difficult to change. I just got the e-mail from Sewell confirming the part number and price.

Thanks
