I don't drive with a spare in my SC - just an air pressure kit to pump up a tire that might be low on the road. But I do check my tires.!!
I disagree. I think that the TPMS system as great value even for non-run flats.

Just today my light came on while I was traveling at 70 MPH on the interstate. The car was driving fine. I pulled off the road, into the tire shop and low and behold I had a nail in my right rear tire. The air pressure was down to 20 PSI and all other tires were at 38 PSI (hot tires). Had I continued to drive until I noticed a flat, I probably would have wiped out the relatively new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tire.

See picture taken TODAY.

+1 on not being a cheap *** and disabling the TPMS system in such a high quality automobile with relatively expensive tires.

Pull open center console. Disconnect the 2 plugs for sensors. Done.

It all depends on what level of risk you are willing to take on. If you are diligent and vigilent about checking your tires' pressure, then you may feel comfortable running without the TPS.

I'm more like Flyct and StillLine. I like the feature/luxury of an early warning system that trouble is on the way. With the low profile tires that are on the SC430, it is much more difficult to tell when the tire is low than in years past with the tall sidewall tires.

It was impossible to visually tell which tire tripped the TPMS system on my car earlier this week. 3 tires were at 38 PSI and the right rear was at 20 PSI. Even the tire shop could not tell until they put the tire pressure gauge on it.

With TPMS disabled, If you get a nail in a tire that causes a slow leak you could be driving for weeks wearing out the outside of your tires. By the time you notice a driveability issue the tire will be likely be ruined.
