I've made appointments for both SCs for next week. My fingers are crossed the barcode will tell them neither needs any disassemble and placement. I haven't received the 2nd letter either, but want to get it done instead of worrying about it.

Cheers,

lar

Does the letter give U a time frame for the repairs to be completed? Are these safety repairs mandatory?

My letter states 5 hours. Mandatory? No, they can't make you do it. It's your typical safety recall. But if a passenger is injured and their lawyer knows that you ignored a recall.....who knows?

Update:
Left mine yesterday at 8AM and picked it up at noon the next day. Loaner overnight.
Car was washed and for the lucky ones that had their gas topped off, mine was NOT.

Has anyone completed the recall yet? I am also eligible for the recall, and was wondering if they were just going to take apart my dash could I have them fix this problem.. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...sh-bubble.html? Any advice, hints, or suggestions?

Default We'll see!

Service rep is bringing mine back from dealership this morning to trade me for the Loaner ES350. The ES makes me appreciate the SC and my LS460 even more! Had a TPMS sensor bad, so got that done as well. Will post results when I know.

Im the opposite on this. Prefer to wait till theyve done 10-20 others so they have more experience doing it when they get to mine. The last thing i need/want is another noise or rattle.
Got 1st notice only

I just received my 2nd notice also. I hope to get it done reasonably soon but like Kball, I may wait a bit just so that they have a few under their belts before I get mine done.

My second notice showed up yesterday as well. I had just taken Funsize to the dealer to check progress - they did a scan and told me she needed to be repaired. They have a couple of cars ahead of me so I feel confident about her being properly repaired.

I have done three of the recalls. Its a pretty extensive repair. I took a few pictures, but not sure how Lexus would feel about uploading them on the net. One of my customers had an aftermarket XM kit installed, along with some dvd player that tied into the Nav screen. Those things made the job a major pain.

The way the dash is designed, I wouldn't worry about rattles and such too much. Its a pretty solid design. You remove the metal cross bar support with the dash.

My advise would be to wait at least about a month so the techs can get used to doing them. You never want to be the first customer in for a job like this, in my opinion.

A recall is a recall, I would not recommend not getting it done. As stated above, if someone is hurt and you didn't get this done, it could be a problem for you.
