error 3 fixed and now i can't load cds

So yesterday I had Error 3 code display on my cd player and after messing around with the device i was able to get it to eject all the cds. Thinking all was well, i tried to load one cd and it won't even respond to me pushing on the button. There is no noise or error code coming from the unit. Does anyone know whats going on here?

You can try cutting the power to the unit (e.g., pull the fuse, or disconnect the battery) to try and reset it. That worked for me, but what you are describing just kept happening to mine with increasing frequency.

Rather than pull it and try to track down the problem (could be mechanical, could be control circuitry) I punted and upgraded following the lead of others here (BeatSonics interface, Pioneer DVD touch screen head unit with XM, Bluetooth, iPod integration, yada, yada.) I'm glad that I did and joined the 21st century.

Let me give you some advise...save time and aggravation and get an adapter (tons of them now and cheaper as well). No need for CD's. Connect your apple device or mp3 player and off you go.

Or else upgrade as kjole recommended. You will never be sorry again.

kjcole: kjcole, the beatsonics interface seems like the best choice but i was just what version of the pioneer screen did you go with?, what could i use to integrate sirius radio, and how do i make idevice and all the other options work with beatsonics?

mandyfig: thanks for your reply

I did what Bob did in this thread. Pretty informative. Don't know if there is a newer Pioneer head unit now, but this one is sweet and can be had for a good price now. Or you can move up to a navigation model for more $

Suggest try the battery disconnect. My CD player function locked up - door refused to open, no play, no eject! Disconnected negative battery connection for couple of hours and when reconnected, all works just fine. Amazing! Just to be sure, I ejected all disks and just loaded one original disk.
Have a tape adapter that works fine to connect my cell phone (aka - MP3 player) - simple, works great and cost < $10. When not in use, I tuck the cord into the tape slot and the door closes no problem.
Good luck and thanks everyone for all the invaluable advice.
