Default Said good bye to my SC thanks to Lexus Financial

Well a tearful goodbye to my Lexus SC430 Lucky Bastard has a new home. Although Lexus finally repaired my SC, as required by my warranty, their attempt to deny the claim forced me to buy a new car, and decided to keep a new Genesis sedan over a 10 year Lexus. With all I put into that SC I am out at least ten grand selling her five years early. Now begins part two, collecting the foreseeable damages Lexus caused by denying a good claim. Love the cars, but no respect for this company, never expected a premium brand to act like a used car dealer. They never even had the decency to let me know they authorized the repair after denying the claim, an engine just showed up at the dealer. With two flagships I am nothing to this company, not worthy of a simple phone call. This kind of customer service does not build the reputation they are seeking.

Good news is the Genesis seems to be a great car. It will keep me enjoying driving with 429 hp 60 in under 5 seconds until the kids are a bit older and I can get my dream convertable Porsche, or who knows, Hyundai may do a proper ragtop in their effort to rule the world. What I have now is a big car, about as quick as an ISF, and plenty of attention, a few asking if it is a Mercedes one if it is a Bentley.

As I left my SC I did get a bit choked up, still the favorite car I have owned. A car that has been very good to me, and brought many smiles. It is the first time I got rid of a car I was not done with, but with my new house, kids braces, and taking care of family that are not doing as well, in these tough times, LB had to go.

For those of you who suggested I get a newer SC, I have to admit, I hold a grudge. Once a company steals from me, I will never put bread on their table again. My wife loves her LS, an that will be the last Lexus for my family.

Kaiser -

Agree - stick with your principles and vote with your wallet if you feel a company has done you wrong.

I had bad experiences years ago with VW and with a Chrysler product. Absolutely would never buy a VW or a Chrysler product again even if they were 50% off.

Did you sell it privately?

Tell us a bit more of who inherited your ex-gem and how it happened. We are really interested.

LB was sold locally for blue book value, which I think was a great deal for the buyer, given the condition and new motor, I am cashing in the warranty which had a couple of grand left in it. Getting half the money back on a warranty that paid out almost $30000 makes me feel somewhat vindicated. Cost of ownership for three years not too bad, but would have been a lot better if I drove her five more years as I intended. My kids are thrilled LB is gone, when I bought her my son was 4'11, now at 5'5 he was not loving that back seat. Doc says he should hit 6 foot which would put his legs out the window by age 15. Perhaps all for the best.

Sorry to see you go KaiserSea but I do understand. It sounds like it is a good tactical move for your family too since the son no longer is a good fit for the back seat. Best of luck to you.
