They've made improvements on them so that they wouldn't cause leaks on our SC's like others have experienced with their old headers.

What about the pinging or ticking I've read about?

Any idea what the install would cost? Seems complicated for DIY.

The ticking is the leaking. I think it is a pretty difficult DIY

Just jumped on this. Let's fill it up. Great HP gain with this cheap mod.

The install can get expensive. I heard it's a lot of work.

I've heard that too, but I've also heard that people have removed unnecessary parts from the engine bay to install it

I'm sorry, but aren't moderators supposed to moderate and post if they have some worthwhile and constructive information to share. If you know something about installation procedure or costs, please share some concrete information or links to threads with such information. IMHO, the "I've Heard" threads add nothing but confusion to threads and propagate more "I've Heard" posts. Examples of moderators with practical knowledge of what they post include lobuxracer and caymandive. I may not always agree with what they have to say, but they always speak from a position of practical knowledge and they are both eager to share that with members of this Forum.

This critique is meant to be constructive. This Forum is the best place for owners of Lexus vehicles to come to for practical knowledge and for those of us with some information to share to be able to participate in some practical sometimes lively conversations.

Now as far as installation procedures and costs for PPE headers are concerned I would recommend a call to Paul at PPE headers and ask him for his opinion on the time involved and the costs that may be associated with that install. Remember, PPE designed the header, and has intimate knowledge of what's involved with such an install. And, PPE, is a sponsor for this forum, and has proven to have great customer service. They may even be able to steer you to a local installer in your area.

Can we get PPE to post the install instructions so peeps can see whats involved instead of everyone speculating on how much the install is? I'm not worried about the install cost, the guy that did my exhaust said he would do it for $200 but it appears some are afraid to pull the trigger on the unknown.

RepairPal estimates $1619-2066 labor. Then add new bolts, gaskets perhaps wrap ...

That estimate is inflated IMHO. All gaskets and bolts necessary for installation are included with the header. As far as wrap goes, you really don't want to do that as JetHot polished ceramic coating comes standard with the header. Maybe PPE will join this thread and share some knowledge.

The gaskets are not included. You have to buy them from the dealership or order online. PPE quoted me $640 for the install plus the cost of the gaskets.

^^^^You are correct on the gaskets. PPE does not supply them with this header and this header only. They are supplied with every other header they sell. They are trying to maintain a competitive price point. The gaskets are $8.00 each here:

And thanks also for providing an install price based on something concrete and not an "I've Heard" post.

Two repair shops in Houston quoted me $1,000 for installing the S&S header 6 years ago, but my friend told me he had got it done for $550.
