Default 20s to 17s or 18s like current wheel style

I've been running these 255 20 and 285 20s non run flats for 2 years now, It is time for some new tires and I want to get closer to stock size. I hear that 18s with standard tires will greatly improve comfort over the 20s. Since I need to get a set of wheels anyways, is there any reason not to go to the 17s? Anyone have pictures of their 17s not photoshopped. I don't get the vibrations that others talk about , but some of the freeway expansion joints can get loud. I might have some 20s for sale in the future.

I tested fitted the IS300 17s that I have sitting in my garage a few months ago, looked pretty good actually. If I find the pic ill upload it. You can run a 17" no problem as long as your compensate with the tire thickness to get you back to the same rolling diameter. I imagine the 17" to give you an even nicer ride versus the 18" because there will be much more meat on the tires.

Not sure about this but if you go with 17" rims it may not clear the front brake calipers. I could be wrong though as most people go with either stock wheels or larger.

If you want more comfort go with 18inch and a higher profile tyre.

The spare for a Mazda RX8 is used as a spare for the SC430 and it is 17".

I would be interested in going to 17's on my 02 SC to get a better ride. Comments welcome

Wheel size has nothing to do with clearing calipers, it depends on the wheel style and offset. For instance the 19" BBS ISF wheels do not clear IS350 calipers that come with stock 18" wheels.
