Exclamation Temporary Override When Shifter Stuck in Park

A few months ago I started experiencing my shifter periodically being stuck in Park.

When I presented the shifting problem to the Lexus dealership, they told me if it happened again before they got the two-buck part in, to remove the small rectangular cover on the top left of the shifter platform with a coin of screwdriver and push down on the plastic tab under the cover.

It happened again and I tried the temporary override ...and it worked beautifully! Thought I'd pass that along to any others who have this apparently very rare, but annoying problem!

They should have the part in next week...

I had this same problem...thought it was the shift overide switch...replaced it...and it was a *****...didn't fix the problem. Took it to a good shop...they said the error code indicated power was being lost to the switch. They did a thorough job tracing the power wires...and it ended up being the connection on wire from the switch to the fuse box...right at the fuse box. Not sure how they repaired it...but it has been trouble free since.
