Question Trouble Shifting out of Park?

Folks...

Every once in a while the shifter doesn't want to be moved from "Park" to "Drive" when I start the car. I end up turning the car off and starting it again Usually this "reboot" does the trick. Is this a figment of my fertile imagination, or a sign of a serious transmission problem? Any one else experience this?

As always, any help is appreciated!

Mike

It may have something to do with the steering wheel. Sometimes the key won't turn unless you jiggle the steering wheel a little. Don't know if this would affect the shifter or not.

I don't think mine shifts unless my foot is firmly on the brake pedal.

On another car that owned, one day it would not shift from Park to Drive. The problem was that the brake light switch quit working. I'm not familiar with or where the brake light switch is on the SC and am also not sure if it could slowly degrade vs simply stop working. It's a long shot, but something that could cause most cars not to shift from Park to Drive.

+1 Move steering wheel to take the tension off the anti-theft interlock system.
