i can get Polk 16 ohm 8" but magnet won't fit in hole to large. differance in cost over 500.00.
Polk sub is only 70.00 10x better because of the larger magnet.
going to take the seat out out and see what i can. for me its very hard because of my stroke.

Getting the seat out is a pain..
1 pop off the back of the head rest
2. remove four screws, Philips or 10mm holding plexiglass wind deflector - careful not to let the screws or nuts drop into the works below.
3. remove four 10mm nuts holding rear seat head rest
4. pull up seat bottom, front center of each seat position held down by pressure clip and lift out
5. remove four 12mm nuts (two below headrest two at the bottom of the seat back directly below headrest)
6. remove four 10mm screws holding the subwoofer assembly.
7. disconnect wiring harness

This is why dealers get away with 2~4 hours of labor charges (preset repair time) When I took my car in I already had the back all apart. I put it all back together myself. But they still billed the warranty provider for the full time. (I let them know, won't go back to that dealership.) Three others in San Diego.

There maybe enough room behind the mounting area. There is a gap back there by the amp and other electronics, but it will have to pass through the existing opening.

Bacardi,

There is a thread (or two) a while back that had pictures and instruction for removing the back seat to get to and replace the subwoofer. It was very good.

Also, if your subwoofer is blown, there are also instructions as to how to just simply repair the speaker with silicon (IIRC). I believe that there is also a company called Speaker Doctor (not sure on the name but it is mentioned in a couple of earlier threads a few years ago) that repairs speakers for $25 or $50. Both methods work just fine and are way cheaper than paying for the dealer to do it sans insurance!

There have been good reports about the speaker repairs, so apparently it works just fine. I believe that Mandyfig did one himself also.

Best of luck and let us know how you worked it out.
Harold
