Based on what 'ser67" stated, it sounds like the coolant needs to be added ('topped off).

I will be curious to find out what Abbyr finds out after his/her appointment on April.

Today is the day. I dropped off the SC last night at the dealer. I told them not to start the car in the morning without me in the car with the tech. I will be there first thing in the morning.

Just came back from the dealer. Drove the car with the shop foreman. He heard the crackling sound.
I made the mistake of having them keep it in the garage overnight as I don't like to keep it outside. I realized when I got home that I probably should have kept it outside overnight so it was cold.
He heard it anyway (I don't know if I should be happy or not; I'd rather not have this noise to begin with). Will hear back from them later.

abbeyrd, thank you for the update. Please keep us informed on the progress, I also have my car in at the shop at the moment (for other stuff, but would like to touch on this item as well) and would be very very interested in knowing what they tell you.

Thank you abbeyrd

Just came back from the dealer. Ser67 is correct. They bled the system of any air and topped off the coolant level which was low. They checked it against 2 other SC's as well as calling main tech support in CA.
The sound of slight rushing of fluid is normal according to main tech support.
There you go.

abbeyrd, thanks for the info. I had my mechanic look at the coolant level and he said it was fine. It's getting warmer so I haven't heard the sound lately.

I'm going to put this on the backburner for now... at least until it gets cold and I start hearing the sound again.

UPDATE: I recently had the dealer perform a "coolant service" and now I have that "marbles cracking" sound behind the dash when I accelerate.

I will check with dealer to see what's up...
