Default Instructions for Manually Closing Roof in Case of Failure

Friends,

I am looking for the instructions on how to manually fold the roof in the case of failure (battery dead) or other issue which may keep the top from automatically going up. It would be wise to keep this information in the car for emergencies.

Thanks

That's true, but the explanation in the manual is needlessly complex and requires two people. The link posted by Harold is a Service Bulletin (posted by Moderator Habious) which has a much simpler method by which one person can do it.

As mentioned in the thread, its a good idea to print out the Service Bulletin and stick it in the manual so you will have it when you need it. I know I did, so I guess you are right, Mister Blister. It is in the manual, at least my manual.

Johnny

I was thinking the one in the manual was dealing with a completly disabled top and that it would require that the hinges be manually shifted and that two people needed to do this because of the disengagment of the hinges, I agree The manual explanation is confusing but does it address a different sittuation then what the TSB does

I guess the question is whether one wishes to drive to the dealer with the top open or closed . . .

OK, so one of the steps is removing the drive cables from the package tray drive motor. I tried and I broke the upper clip and now I'm afraid to continue because it NEEDS to be secure and I'm hoping one clip will do it. Anyone have any insight for me on how to do it without breaking those clips?
