Default Good price?

I'm in the market for an SC430 and came along a 2002 in white with 169k.

I looked on KBB and Nada and the price was around 11.5 in excellent condition, the seller was asking 13.5

I offered him 11.5 but he declined, he said he wanted 13.5, I was like no way you are asking way above market price and i said the best I can do was 12. He still refused so I left. After I left, he lowered it down to 13, I still said no.

The car needs a new windshield, new paint on the front bumper, and some of the clear coat was peeling on the hood by the water cleaning nozzle. But other then that, the car drove good and the interior still look in good shape for how old it was.

What would you say a good price for this car would be? and would a sc with 169k be a problem?

Why not spend a little more and get one with half the miles?

Check out Edmunds. Perfect condition with those miles is $11.8. Average condition is $9.1. Sounds like this car is closer to average. Sounds like it's time for the 2nd timing belt/water pump. If that hasn't been done subtract another $0.8.

The price is decent if it didn't need windshield work done. You can't go exactly by the pricing tools online, KBB and others are not real values, just estimates.

These were sold by members on this forum, they were in good shape with half the amount of miles for only $16k. You just need to wait to find one that's the color you want and local.

The owner could get the windshield changed using his insurance if he really wanted to sell the car. One thing you should be sure to understand about the SC430, it is not a car you should buy if money is an issue. Everything on the car is expensive. Repairs, tires and if the top stops working......

With 169K and crack windshield, I would offer no more than $11K, people generally selling them cheaper during winter.

My two cents worth? Wait. There are better cars, with fewer problems at better prices. This is definitely NOT an impulse buy.

There are a lot of great color combinations out there. I recommend exercising patience and being a bit more open minded on color scheme, should a screaming deal come along.

That car is overpriced at $13.5k. I wouldn't pay over $11k tops.

Be patient and you will find a good deal. If you can afford just a bit more, get one with a lower mileage. When a car is over 100k miles no matter what brand, many things will start to need change/repair.

I waited for years before getting my 2002 with 48k in good condition this past March. The seller wanted $20k and I talked him down to $17.5k.
