I've had it I'm finally getting rid of it.
No I'm not talking about lucky bastard I'm talking about the wheels that I put on. I need some advice from the group. If I put on some OEM G spiders that are 18 inches and put nice beefy Michelin tires on them will I finally have back my smooth Lexus ride. I don't think I could go back to the OEM wheels but if I have to I will someone give me some good advice. I love the way my wheels look but with low profile tires and 140 miles per day I can't live with them. Help!

if you're worried about looks you can go with 19's and still run the same stock spec tire size which is 245/40.. instead of 18 its 19. it will fill in the wheel gap better and ride just as good. it all depends on the tire you get too. if youre irrated about your 20" wheels I suggest you buy better tires. When i drove on 20's in my IS and SC the ride quality was barely affected. if anything improved because of a wider wheel with bigger tires of course.. 245/30/20 front and 275/30/20 rear.. i recommend hankook ventus v12 tires..

Oh man, those EXEs are the only aftermarket wheels I would have considered changing mine to! IMHO, they are awesome looking. But I get the ride thing. I stayed on the 18s when I got rid of the RFTs. Never looked back and totally enjoy.

I can never understand the desire for the slammed look with 20" wheels TBH.
Anything over 18" and tyre costs go up while ride quality goes down.

Yep, I too, started with the pie plates with chrome. Within a week of purchase, I bought the twisties off ebay. Then I ran into a fellow CL'er who was selling his 02, but was selling his wheels separately. I couldn't pass up the 20" mayas, especially with 11's on the back. Loved the looks and didn't mind the ride. I went so far as to sell my stock wheels-Which I regret to this day. All that changed when I was 100 miles from home and blew out a rear tire and never knew it, thanks to the low profiles. That was the first time that I had a flat and didn't know it. I had to flat-bed the SC back home and had to wait 4 days to replace my 20" tire (no one stocked them). I then picked up the 18" 10-spoke chromies from another CL'er who took them off an IS. I now use the 18's on trips and the 20's locally OR the 18's in summer and the 20's the rest of the year. I'm a teacher, and my commute is very short (5 miles round trip), whereas my summer vacation is usually longer trips. I wish I just stayed with the twisties-could have saved a ton of money! The 18's are so much more comfortable, but those 20's look soooo good!

Made my decision. Going with G spiders when my tires need replacing. I love the look of the exe but even though it's minor, making a car like this shimmy, and the loss of comfort with low profile tires is a deal breaker. I guess my kids are right 43 is old. Drove my CTS-V 300 miles yesterday in the rain, and it was Lexus smooth. Now to make my Lexus, Lexus smooth. 20" wheels is the guy version of high heels.

I am 43 too and my kids started calling me old man 3 years ago. Hahah
Even the stock 18" with the 40 low profile tires are too much for me. I am thinking About downsizing to 17" wheels.
