Default What Tires NOT to buy

I just bought an SC 430 for my wife, almost didn't because of the way the car sounded and felt. I thought the differential was on it's way out along with the front wheel bearings at 82000 miles. The initial turn in took too much pressure on the steering wheel. Well the rest of the car was in such good shape that I just didn't think these problems could be. Car had Falken Ziex 512's on it. What a horrible tire!!!!!! I just changed them out for the recommended Continental DWS"s and All those noises went away!!!

Thanks forum members for the tire recommendation!!!

britjunkie:

Glad you got those things worked out to your satisfaction.

The car really is a joy to drive. I recently purchased the Conti, DWS's and I have been thoroughly happy with them. In fact I was parked the other day to return to my car and a note was on my windshield, from a fellow SC driver asking me about the Conti's and where I bought them. I called and related my experience.

He bought them as well.

Great value.

Best of luck with your wife's car.

Cheers,

Trygve

Noisy tires, gotta be careful. had the same issue with mine. Junk tires and changed them to Pirelli PZeros, (RFT's, I know I Know...). Noise went away. So I am just waiting these to finish up and will change into non-RFT's.

Try Toyo Proxes C1S tyres. Awesome tyre on the SC.

I'm just licking my chops waiting for the dunlop rft's on my wife's sc to wear out so i can replace them with conti's. they had too much tread when we bought the car to let it go to waste.

Maybe there is a reason Continental DWS costs 41% more than Falken Ziex ZE-512 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus costs 89% more than Falken Ziex ZE-512.

My recommendation: Do not buy any RFT lol

I just got the Hankook Ventus tires on mine, the best tire I've ever had so far.

Hankook Ventus V12 all the way, wish we could meet up and take turns driving on different tires...that would be some real research!

I just had the hankook ventus v12 tires installed. Feels like driving a luxury car as it's meant to be. The khumo runflats that were replaced had about 14k miles and probably would have lasted past 20k. They wore well and were tough tires, but the ride was too harsh at times.

I had Dunlop RFTs and done at 23k. The interior side of the rubber was coming off and was not noticeable from the outside. Glad i changed them to see the inside and now i use Michellin Pilot Sports AS Plus RFT. Feels good with them.

Hankook is making inroads into the US market. Kprea is gaining ground on tire supply worldwide. They know how to make tires at good pricing.

1 Hankook 2 Kumho 3 Nexen

Can you tell me about how many miles you have driven on the Conti's?? I have just put them on my wifes 06 to replace the Dunlop RF and I have had nothing but problems for the second day they were on the car.

Strange vibrations that seems to change slightly
Had them balanced 3 times in 10 days and they are still not right
Car pulls off to the right and it did not do that with the Dunlops

I bought them from Tirerack and they are sending me 2 replacements for free to mount and balance to see if that fixes the problem. Customer service person said I could have tires that are out of round?? Even my wife that never complains about anything agrees that the car rides and feels like there's something wrong. I agree that the price was great but if I can't get this resolved I would not even want these tires if they were free. Anyone else out there in cyber land having issues with there DWS'S please chime in.

Thanks for listening
