Angry So MAD!!!!

Yesterday, I took my SC to the usual window tint shop. When I pick-up the car, I found a nickel size ding on the hood with a one inch scratch on top of it. They also burned the leather (4 small holes) next to the passenger side quarter window!!!!

Of course, they said it wasn't them!!!!!! This is so BS!!!! The scratch was fresh and white initially. I thought it was just dirt so I wipe it with my hand & realize it was a ding with a scratch!!!!! I point it to them and they said it was a old scratch as its turned darker after I wipe it. They must have drop a tool on it like they toss tool and miss the catch!!! With the burned leather, they said they use plastic tool so they couldn't have burn the leather...........This is so BS, I saw them use a heat gun/ hair dryer during the window tint.

In addition to the above, I think they also mess up on the door/panel,
They said they took off the door panel to doing a better tint job (this I already know as they did the same on my previous tint as it get better & longer lasting result). However, when they did it this time, there's some noise coming from the passenger door when I hit a bump or uneven road.....they must have broken/loose one of the clip/bolt inside the panel!!!! I'm gonna have to remove the panel & check it out this weekend!!!! I hope its just a loose clip!!!

I'm so pissed but there's nothing much I could do!!!!! It wasn't worth to call the cop as there's chance that they wouldn't write a report since its so minor and I couldn't really prove they did it. Meanwhile, I'm in a hurry to pick-up my wife from work!!

It's so damn hard to find a honest/quality auto shop that you can trust now!!!

that sucks when i got my is250 i took it to have a system put in as well as tint the next day I picked it up got home and realized the bumper was scratched...took it over and they paid to have the lexus collision center repaint my bumper.

Got a loaner too...because of that i take all my business to them. You can report them to the BBB and such maybe talk to the owner if its a small shop. Sucks though- sorry to hear about it.

I hope they have that disclaimer about the sc and i forget what other models, we have some kind of repellant on our glass which willcause the tint to start lifting. They should have used a razor blade to remove that stuff off before tinting.

As for the topic i here you on that! Its so hard to find loyal quality shops/people to do it! I'd keeep complaining if i were you

Yea complain all the way to the top. That sucks they did that too your car and then lied about it. The police can't do anything because it's a civil matter. Hope you get it worked out. GL

Its a small shop with like 3~4 employee. The owner did the job himself, this is the 3rd car I bring there for window tint and few of my friend go there too as they did do a quality tint job that last. They tinted my dad's car 4+ years ago and it show no sign wear or tear.

BBB complaints is useless, it do local business, they don't even advertise!!!
Cops in NYC are so lazy, they wouldn't want to write a report on minor stuff like these.

I should have really take a day off & stay there watching them do the job. I used to stay in all auto-shop when they perform the job. I guess I will have to go back to the old day!!!

Do you have any pictures that can help you back it up? I did that with a recent body shop incident, unfortunately, I found that the crack that I thought the accident caused was there beforehand. (Drat.)

It may still be worth making the complaint to the BBB and Chamber of Commerce. You might ask the owner again to cover it and show him the letter you plan to send if he persists. (Be sure to point out that you know he uses a heat gun.)

post reviews on yelp and google maps. people use those when trying to find services like tint shops. if nothing else, you'll know you likely cost them some money.

... and add a review on Angie's List. If you don't get satisfaction, remember: small claims court is easy and handles claims up to $5K. Often its enough to get someone to pony up what they really should do in the first place.

Bummer you had the bad experience - i hate when folks can't just OWN a mistake and move on...

Good luck!

Ask them who their insurance company is? Tell them you are going to file a claim. Also, contact your insurance company and ask them if this is covered under comp?
Hope this helps.

Thanks for all the advices, I will file a BBB complaints but not sure about the small claims court. This shop don't even have store receipt with their store name on it. I know I can still sue them but my friend that know the owner want us settle it down without the court. Lets seem how it goes

Threaten them 1st that you will file a BBB claim and maybe they will change their mood.

I agree, the threat of a BBB claim worked for me in the past. Good luck!
