Default Best windshield sunshade for the SC430?

Maybe a dumb question given that all sunshades are created equal. Aren't they? Has anyone found a windshield sunshade that is outstanding? My 02 has been garaged it's entire life but when I go out I would like to use a good sunshade. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Covercraft UVS100 Sun Shield

I bought one in 1990 for my first LS and gave it to the new owner when I sold the car in 2003. I bought one in 2003 for my current LS and it's still in good shape with daily use. The one we bought for my wife's Camry in 1998 is still in use by her. We keep cars a long time and these sun shields really help keep the dash in good shape. The are custom made for each model car and fit perfectly. We also have window tint installed with the aim of reducing interior damage but mainly for comfort.

This is all I ever use on any car I own.
For added protection you can install ceramic tint on your windshield to cut UV and IR even further.

I can understand the psychological reasons for a sunshade, and possibly security reasons, but do you really think they make a difference for protection of the dash? For my new RX300 back in 1999, if I remember correctly I bought a sunshade from the local Lexus dealer. It was from Canvasworks out of sunnyvale CA. It was custom made for the RX and was of excellent quality. However, after a couple of years I got lazy and stopped using it. This car was in the hot Texas summer year after year. When I sold the RX a few months ago, the car was 12 years old and the dash still looked like new. With that being said, the dash of the SC does look like different material than the RX, so that may be a factor. I would consider using one for my SC if it really made a difference. I just think it would be a pain removing/installing the radar detector for each use.

Unfortunately, you never really know how well a dash will hold up under the sun until after the fact. A sun shade is cheap insurance for that. Besides, using the shade will drastically reduce the heat load inside the car.

My wife was too lazy to use it. Our 06 LS now has hairline cracks on the steering wheel. My SC with a Wal-mart bought shade is doing fine.

I went ahead and ordered one from Sewell. As Harold57 said, it is cheap insurance and I do want to take car of this car. Another factor was that when I was looking to purchase the car I looked at a 2006 with only 17k miles. Although it was low in miles, it had several faults including a bubble in the area behind the rear seats. I don't know if that was from the Sun or not, but I would hate to stare at a bubble on the dash everyday. So anyway, I decided to drop $35 bucks and not worry about it.

I had a bubble too few weeks ago. I popped it with big safety pin and now can't tell where it was. I popped it once with a small pin, but it came back, so I used a larger one. Not sure what causes it but this fixes it.

Default Lexus Sunshades

I bought sun shades for my lexus from quiksnap.com few week ago. The quality of shade is really good plus it provides UV protection for my kids.

Default Windsheild Sun Blocking Shade

Has anyone found or can recommend a good windshield Sun blocking shade that fits the SC 430? Would like to pick one up for the Son's 2005 SC 430. Recommendations welcome. My friend had one for her 2010 LS 460 that said Lexus on it but I have never been able to find one like it. I am guessing the dealership (Lexus of Tulsa) had them made up and gave them to folks who dropped $75-85K as she did.

Dennis, I recently ordered a Covercraft windshield shade for my 2010 LS600hL. I liked the cover so well I just ordered another one for my 2006 SC430. Here's a link to the place I ordered from: https://www.autoanything.com/driving...ield-sun-shade

These shades are a bit pricey, but are very heavy duty and fit my LS600hL perfectly (so I'm hoping for the same on my SC430--I haven't received that one yet).
