Ideally, the way to post an inquiry like this is to start a new thread in the SC430 forum. Or, search for old threads on the same topic and post a comment at the end, which would bring the thread back to life.

Just bought my first Lexus SC430 today! It's a 2003 with high mileage but I had it inspected by several people and for the price I believe I was lucky enough to get a decent car that I am hoping lasts me a very long time!

1. Exterior color: Silver (or Chrome)
2. Interior color: Black
3. Audio options (Mark Levinson)...I'm not sure about this
4. Other major options or packages
5. Any modifications
6. Anything you want to mention (others considered, previous Lex owner, etc): I pulled the service reports from the Lexus website and the car only had two owners. The first "owner" was really use of the care as Fleet/Leasing but according to the Lexus website the car was kept up today with all of its maintenance and any concerns about the car was addressed and repaired as recently as 2023. Also it didn't come with key fob or car alarm so I plan to get that installed in the car
7. If you are INTERNATIONAL, state which city/country your representing! I'm in Atlanta, GA
8. Post pics or links to your car (you can upload pics in our gallery)

Nice , and Welcome. I think they all came with the alarm in them, to test it leave a window down, lock it all up and reach in and open the door from the inside. It'll go off if it has one.

Default New member - 2002 SC430

Hi all,

I bought a 2002 SC430 with 113k miles for my wife at the end of last summer. She loves it. I have been working through some issues. Just re-foamed the door speakers, and replaced the broken radio antenna. Tires have some tread left, but are six years old and ride pretty stiff. I may also look into replacing struts and bushing all around. The ride is great on the highway, but bumps and road imperfections are a bit more jarring that I think they should be. Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I am in the Albany, NY area. I am also looking into getting the front seats re-upholstered, so if anyone has suggestions for that I am all ears.

If you have six-year-old run-flats, replace them with conventional tires before doing anything else in seeking a better ride. I felt my 08's ride was too jarring as well, so I went with 17" lightweight Enkei RPF1 wheels and conventional Michelin sport tires. I now have no complaints and I'm glad I don't need any expensive suspension maintenance.

Second the advice on ditching the run flats. Huge improvement in ride quality, especially since you are replacing the tires anyway.

The current tires are Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS tires. Not run flats. I am considering going with a 45 series tire instead of 40, as the higher sidewall will ride better...

Default New To Me! 2002 SC430

We've been Lexus owners for a while, and have owned a couple different LS models, and in fact my youngest son still enjoy the '97 LS400 we bought so many years ago!
What a GREAT car it's been too!
NO major repairs outside the usual maintenance items like timing belt package, etc.

So.....when my wife decided she wanted a convertible for the summer (and perhaps longer!), my son highly recommended we look into the SC430!
(She has previously enjoyed owning a Jaguar XJS V12 droptop, an SL500, and various non-exciting in any way other convertibles.

We wanted to stay within a budget, which we had set at $20K max. We just won't use what would be a third vehicle in the family enough to spend a lot more.

Long story short, we found this 2002 red one with the saddle interior, 70,000 miles, with a very (VERY!) extensive service maintenance history, and a timing belt package done 1200 miles ago.

It's a stunning car, with (almost) zero flaws outside and none inside.

I'm looking forward to learning what I need to do to keep this as nice as it is!
