Compact Spare Compatibilty ?

Will a Lexus GS430 compact spare size T155/70/R17 work on a SC430?

I t really should be a T145, but I believe the real important factor is the space in the rim to clear the calipers (especially the fronts).

Understood Brake Caliper Clearance

Thanks, I understand that the main issue of front brake caliper clearance for using a compact spare. I was hoping that somebody has already verified this for me for the GS430 compact spare. I have been unable to confirm the compatibilty online other than I see the 07-09 Camry, 07-09 ES350, 93-98 Supar TT and possibly IS 300/350.

I bought a space saver spare at a local hubcap store. Like a real dummy I didn't ask what it came from, I wish that I had, if they knew. The tire size is: T155/80 R17 100m this is on the tire. On the rim: Nissan 17x4 TOPY 1 13 04 2.6 A 0 300 050 70. It fits in the wheel well in the trunk, not great but it does fit. I tried it on both the front and the back when I first got it and it fits great. I only have a stock brake set up. Seemed to have lots of room IMHO. I haven't started carrying it as a spare as yet cause I still have the runflats on. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Tried my spare from our ls430 and it does not clear the brakes Went with an RX8 kit, fits fine.

I could be wrong, but I believe the LS430 comes with larger 4-piston calipers than the sc430 2-piston calipers.

If your LS430 spare couldn't clear the sc430 caliper, it more likely won't clear the bigger LS430 caliper, either.
Maybe you have a wrong spare wheel for your LS430.

Never tried it on our LS but it is the factory kit I am not sure if my SC brakes are stock, my suspension is not. I will post pics.

Where did you pick up the RX8 kit and how much? Thanks.

A lot of folks get either the Supra TT, Camry or RX8 kits from ebay, Craig's list or signing up for the appropriate forums. I got my Supra TT spare by listing a want ad in the Supra forum. A guy across town from me sold me his for $40+.

If you desire, you can get the spare tire cover kit from Sewell. On very rare occasions, you will see them on ebay, but they are very rarely found there.

Lots of responses

Lots of responses but nobody has been able to answer my question. Wish there was a compact spare compatibilty chart. My girlfriend does not like driving without a spare but she does have AAA. I will have to try out the GS430 compact spare I have on my SC430 this weekend. I can tell that the spare I have does not have as much offset back to the car as I have seen on the Camry and Supra spare.

all 2-3gs spares will work, just need to make sure if they will your sc430 trunk nicely. rim offset has nothing to do with caliper clearance.

GS430 Spare Does Fit in Trunk

Tried out the GS430 T155 70 17 spare for fitment in the trunk space and it just fits. The lip for the tool/spare compartment cover does force the spare a little forward in the trunk but was rectified with a wedge.

Pics would really be nice and will be appreciated.

Well the wife curbed the LS yesterday, so I got a good look at the spare. The one in our LS is a full size factory wheel, and it does not fit on my front wheel. I have aftermarket rotors, and calipers so I dont know how stock would do. The wheel is 18 245 45

I do not remember what I paid for the RX8 wheel but it was less than $100. The guy who sold it to me told me that his RX8 did not come with it, so he kept it when he traded it in, and had trouble selling it. It comes wrapped in a tight fitting tarp and fits perfect. I bought it off craigslist.

Another Spare Tire Option

Hi out there,

I came across this today:

Something to consider?
