Driver's interior door latch replacement
 

HELP... has anyone experienced this problems. I have a 2003 SC430 and the inside driver's door handle stop operating. I took the car to my local dealership for a look. They said that the cable which connects the door handle to the door latch broke. Cost to replace the door latch assembly will be $600. I purchased the part from Lexus for $180 and replaced it myself. AND then the fun started, my key will not work mechanically (using the key) of electrically (using the function switches on the key). The key will however, electrically lock the doors but will not unlock the doors or the trunk. It is as if the security system goes into a override mode and locks down the car. The 2003 models don't have electronic key recognition on the door, only the ignition system. Please help....thanks,
