I very seldom use my cd player. My car is an 02. Now every time I put in a cd I get an error msg. These are book cds and music. Anyone have an idea what is wrong. Need cleaning? These are not cd copies.

I just tried it and it is Error 1

 

Error message one is a "read" error, with the laser having problems reading the inserted media. First thing to do is make sure the disc is clean and not scratched. Also make sure it's inserted label up, believe it or not some people insert their CD upside down. If the CD isn't a typical music CD, then the CD player won't read it. For instance, it will not read MP3 files, only standard (old school) CD music files.

I just bought an 06 and the CD payer gives error 3. There are 6 little discs showing on the display. Does that mean it is empty or full? I have an extended contract and hope to have Lexus tell me it must be replaced. If so, I will try to upgrade to a 2010 model with the ipod connectivity.

 

Error 3 is mechanical error or jam, meaning there's a disc or discs inside. If the unit is still under warranty let them take care of it.

 

You might try the bopping it on the side first. Maybe it will go ahead and eject them like others have said. If one of the CDs is stuck, it will prevent the others from being ejected also, so it may just be one of them causing the problem.

 

I will report back in about a week on my stuck CDs. I hope Lexus condemns the unit so my warranty will replace the unit and I can upgrade to one with ipod connectivity. I probably can't get that lucky though.

 

I tried to get an upgrade on the radio when I had mine in for a stuck CD, they refused. I couldn't even pay for an upgrade to do it. They said I'd have to pay the full price of a new radio. (I was kind of disgusted by that, though I guess they have to do something like that otherwise folks would intentionally get CDs stuck in order to get an upgrade.)
