Extended Warranty for 2006 SC430
Hi!
My 2006 SC430 currently has 22,953 miles and is set to go out of warranty in Feb 2010. I'm interested in purchasing an extended warranty and wanted to hear others' feedback on potential options/pricing.
Thanks for any info you might be able to provide!

Try the search function at the top of the page. If you do an "advanced search", you can limit the replies to the SC430 forum. No matter what type search you do, you will have more results than you can possibly read - it's been discussed quite a bit.
Welcome, by the way!

All I'll offer is read AND understand the contract, not the marketing materials. You'll find many exclusions and loopholes typically NOT in your favor. With that said, I purchased one for my 02 for peace of mind for major breakdowns.

I echo the others...totally recommend the warranty, do the 3/75k Lexus Platinum with no deductible and you'll never regret it. ML speakers go out $600-$800 a piece, subwoofer is $1200 sometimes the head unit goes out, nav door, engine motor mounts and tranny mounts are common things that go out on older/higher mileage SC's.
I paid $1850 back in 2006 for my 2002 with 25k miles on it for a 3 year, 75k Lexus ESP.
Do a search...lots of good stuff on here. Welcome!

I bought the Lexus extended warranty from the Lexus dealer.
Do your home work in pricing in the market place.
My local Lexus dealer matched the lower price I found elsewhere.

Thanks everyone! I ended up purchasing an 8yr/75,000 Lexus Platinum from Troy Dietrich at Toyota of Greenfield for $1880!!
Hopefully I'll never have to use it.

Bought the same one from Troy for my '06. It covers the top, even the hinges (he checked with Corproate for me). 4 years with my mileage, $1880. Some may say not to do it, but $470 a year is very cheap insurance (at least compared to my comprehensive in Cali).

+1 ^^ ML
agreed on quality, I was just quoting prices for warranty purposes and oem considerations replacement costs.
to each his/her own...when something malfunctions on my $65k car, I'd like to have the dealer replace the part with an oem under warranty for free. IMO when you want to upgrade take off the good OEM parts, put in storage or sell on eBAy and recoup some of your money towards your upgrades. I do it all the time with wheels/tires (take offs). In this case, to your point AND mine, have the dealer replace the ML speakers under warranty for free and then rip it all out and sell on eBay and put whatever you want in!

The big difference is buying a warranty from Lexus when the car is still under warranty. Troy will not sell a warranty on a used car out of warranty not sold by his dealership. Many will and fake the paperwork to indicate that they sold you the car. I had the dealer that sold me the car sell me the warranty so I could not shop for as good as a price. The Used car warranty also costs about 1200 more than the extended warranty with the same coverage. The other difference is the used car warranty covers you 5/60 from date of warranty purchase the extended will only go to 7/100 from the date the car was sold. So my 03 already 7 years old was out of luck on extended, but for used is now covered until it is 13 years old, and has 110 K on the odometer. I would chance the SC as a five year old car, but 13 years old, I want the coverage. Breaking down the numbers, the poster bought a three year 50K warranty for 1800, I paid 1400 more for a five year 60K warranty. He is paying 600 a year, I am paying 640 a year. Close enough!
