This is the part I ordered to make the adaptor for the son's 2005 SC. I hope it was the right one?

Dennis, just solder the jumper between two pins. I assume you can solder, can’t you?

My soldering is about as good as my welding. It may not be all that pretty but it will hold.

Good to have this handy device to clear the VSC lights. Or get a ScanGage then you can clear codes and VSC Lights on demand.

Just want to make sure I am on the right page. My thoughts are that I can still use my techstream which the cable firmware is set up for 2006 SC on the Sons 2005 SC and then just use the adaptor I going to build from your earlier post to just reset the VSC light issue. I can use it rather than the paper clip. Am I correct in this thought? When I was in VA last year the techstream worked fine on his car just triggered the VSC lights because of the different OBDII I used which is for my 06?

As a refresher, a Check Engine Light will automatically trigger the VSC VSC OFF lights to turn on.

When the VSC VSC Lights turn on (and no CEL), you must use the VSC Off device (an OBD Scanner will not be able to turn this off is my premise, and you can confirm if you know otherwise).

I am not sure that answers the question I asked? There is no CEL on when you use a 1.04 firmware vs a 2.04 firmware cable on pre 06 vs a 06 and above. It will trigger the VSC lights.

mandyfig is correct...

the 2005 and 2006 use different bus systems.
2002-2005 require the reset tool, 2006-2010 do not typically require a reset tool.

Is the part that I am making not the reset tool? Is the difference between the 1.04 and the 2.04 firmware cable (I may be off on the numbers but the point is the same) not taking into consideration the bus difference between 02-05 and 06-10?

if I remember correctly, there are two buses, the bean bus and the Can bus. Retroplay taught us about the the buses.
the 2002-2005 have the bean bus
the 2006-2010 have the can bus.

when TechSteam or any code reader is connected, it attempts to connect to the can bus...when this happens on the older bean bus cars, 2002-2005, it triggers a fault condition.

you must then reset the system using pins 4&14...

as for the firmware on these cables, I can tell you my v1.4.1 works on my 2002 and my 2007 but won’t work on my sisters 2010 Camry. I have to use the v2.0.4 cable on the Camry.

i personally think it is luck of the draw with these cheap cables.
