right side...
I would like to add that each time after I close the roof manually , and press the open button , everything works just fine. The problem is when I try to close the roof. First, the trunk will rise and when the palstic part behind the rear seats supose to rise, it will not do it and that's why the top mechanism is not continuing the process. Pressing the open button after that will close the trunk.

adi, do you still have the back of your car apart?
I need to know how to remove the right side flapper. My top operates, but the flapper on the right side does not pop out when the top is opening. I have to manual push it out when opening the top and manually pull it in when closing the top.

IS 250, I already put the top on manually and I don't have access to take pictures but I can tell you that underneath each flapper there are 2 screws size 10 . It is kind of hard to reach but in 15' you should be able to take that plastic part out if you need to. Soon , maybe in a few days I will try to take the top down and I will post some pics .
Talwang, thank you for the parts #

Does anyone have a top mechanism wiring diagram. I would like to know how many switches are and their location. I am still trying to figure out what triggers the package tray to rise and lower(at that specific moment) during the top up/top down process. Any thoghts? thank you

hi there, if you figure this out let me know too... i had same problem, the package tray would not rise and the top settles on top of the package tray. then when i was playing around with it i pulled the right fold out flap too hard which cracked. so they say its the link assembly for 1750 and 8 hrs labor.
any input from what you learn would be appreciated
there is enough salvage car parts out there, so just the labor is the issue to solve.
do you have a service manual?
thanks

Anup, it seems to me that you are in need of the motor of the package tray. Same part that was necesary for me to replace and the cost was $354 at the lexus dealer. Can you send me a photo of the cracked part you have . After working so many hours on the top mechanism I got to know pretty well every part involved. Indeed in order to be able to move the package tray(big center piece ) or the sides triangle shape parts , you have to unplug some cable in each side (kind of a pita, until you get a feel for it, very unaccesible spaces to get to this cable. Anyways, here are some pics of the part that needed replaced. If you have any other questions , just ask... good luck

yes i will post pics when i get the car back, its still at lexus. VVti bob.. do you have the pdf for link assembly removal please, right side.
i wonder if i can spot plastic weld the part back since its not a part that has any pressure on it, it just swings out to cover between the package tray and the quarter panel.
thanks a bunch

Here you go. Hope this help... my personal experience with post manufacturing plastic welds is they usually fail. Typically at the worst moment possible. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Yep. I think about it this way, 12 hours of not having to wonder if I screwed it up worse that it already was.... And then if I do it myself, I always seem to have a part, a screw, bolt, washer or something left over ... then I go back and figure out what I missed, and if I'm lucky I can correct my error without having to redo much of my work.

well after sitting in the garage for a while, i decided to rehook up the package tray from manual operation and try the top and it all works no problem. I don't know if lexus adjusted something but he might have to get it working right. My package tray lifts as it should and the drivers side arm swings out. My passenger side arm is broken and therefore i do need the link assembly passenger side, after taking it apart.. do you think this is a reparable item or need to replace. a used one is about 395 and then the labor. a new one is 1250 cost and 1800 retail. if i do not mind that little gap being covered, then i am good to go as it is. here are some pics of the broken part and the attachments to where it fits.
any helpful ideas from anyone?
