Default Rear brake pads

I think my rear brake pads have never been replaced at 58k miles and they are pretty thin now.

When looking online, I see major non oem pads are NPN, Hitachi and PBR, and oem pads are Akebono ceramic and Advics.

I don't want to use ceramic pads because they are often noisy and they don't stop well until warmed up. Which brand pads should I get from your experience? Any DIY for the rear pad change?

You might look at your online service history to see if the front brakes had been done by a Lexus dealer. If so you may decide to use matching OEM rear pads so that you have similar friction material all around. I have this situation as well - previous owner had the front brakes done a few years ago at a Lexus shop so my plan is to use the OEM pads on the rears (DIY) next spring. As tentoys says, Sewell has them and the price with shipping is better than I can get locally.

Honestly, our brakes are so advanced that unless you are going to do a complete brak-ectomy, I'd just go with the sewell OEM pads using our CL discount and call it a day!

www.lexus.com/owners to register your vehicle and get service history based on the VIN if you haven't done so yet.

Mandyfig did a great DIY on pads. Not sure if they were the front or rear. Check the sticky up top that we have been updating. Nice pics on his too!

Thanks guys.

The front pads were done at Lexus dealer a while ago. I am just confused by the OE pads: Akebono pro-ACT ceramic pads and the Advics pads. Which one should I use?

I've got 04466-30170 for the OEM rear pads by Toyota MFG. Not sure who actually is the supplier, but that is the OEM part #.

$74.95 minus our CL discount @ Sewell.
