Get a 3.76 LSD and your problems will go away(pre 06 cars). On paper it is similar to adding 75lbs of torque to the car. I miss mine dearly but it is in a good home. The best bang for the buck for Lexus vehicles.
I drive my other car around from time to time and though it is fast up top the damn thing is gutless off the line as it starts in 2nd gear unless you do a ritual. Even so the SC destroys it from the line and the 928 catches and passes it up later but by then the run is over.
Believe me, there are many cars more frustrating to drive the the SC.

Sure. It doesn't pull hard, and doesn't feel all that aggressive. I think its more a cruiser with top down fun with Japanese reliability.

You get substantially better off-the-line acceleration when you turn off ETC and turn on Power Mode.

Depends.....power mode does not provide any additional power, it only allows for a more aggressive shift pattern. Turning off the traction control will simply allow the tires to spin a little without the ECU interfering and backing out the power which it does so easily in this car.

I'm not joking. It was one of the first things we noticed during the car's first year.

It's not a killer improvement, but it's definitely noticable.

In my own experience, it also depends how quickly you can step on the gas pedal. No need to floor it, a quick 1/2 to 3/4 way is enough.
It works everytime for me.

rich is right about the gas pedal. the computer senses how quickly you depress the gas

inxexisten, sc430 came out in 2001 (as 2002 model). is350 came out in 2006. look at the gs460, that would be your hint for the next sc
