Default ULTIMATE Bike Rack Thread (merged threads)

Does anyone know of a bike rack that will fit my 04 SC430? I've asked a few bike dealers and no one can give me a definate answer. Some say that none will work and others say that a generic trunk mount will work. Does anyone here have any experience with this?

Thanks

I get scared thinking of a bike rack on my SC. Have you researched a small trailer? I just see scratches all over the rear of ther car with a bike rack. I have an old 87 Dodge van for hauling kayaks and bikes and whatever. I think that the Lexus Gods may hit you with something if you attach a bike rack to your SC.
Gently to ya,

Default Bike Rack

Yup, My Toyota Highlander comes in handy for Bike rides. There is no way to install a trailer hitch on a SC430. User manuals says that it is not designed for towing at all.

And yes, I would be worried using a generic Bike Rack on my trunk, It has scratch potential written all over it.

Cheers from Lexy

I found a bike bag on-line; it's made of ballistic material and lined with a rubber-like substance. The way it's designed is you take the wheels off the bike and fit them into pockets on either side of the bag and the bike fits in the middle. Best of all, the bag fits in the back seat area of my SC430 when the top is down. I ride a road bike and this system works well for me. By the way, I would NEVER attach a bike rack to my SC430.

Default Are you serious?

Surely you are just looking for cries of "DON"T DO IT!!!"
I can't imagine such a great looking automobile with a bike rack. Seems like there would be a better solution for hauling something around. Just my 2 cents worth.

I have tried the trunk rack on my SC430 but did not like the results. I just take the wheels off and everthing fits in the trunk.

I used the Yakima Mighty Joe. Sold the rack when I got a truck to carry the bikes. Although it doesn't have the car listed, it will sit off the back. Of course, you should not operate the top with the rack on, especially with the bikes on.

Default Hitch To Carry Bike

I Am Looking For A Hitch For My Sc That I Can Plug A Rear Bike Rack Into. Does Anyone Know Where I Can Find One That Doesn't Need To Support Much Weight, But Also Isn't Too Visible?

I use a Yakima that sits on the rear lid and bumper. Although it's not listed, it works just fine.

Thanks, I looked at the thread, but it never actually got to the point of saying if any hitch company actually makes a hitch for our SC430s. Does anyone know of a hitch company I can get SC hitch from?
