Default Steering wheel shaking...

I've purchased a 2002 sc430 about 3 weeks ago. i dont drive it around too often. i replaced two front rotors due to the warpage. as i was relacing the rotors i've noticed that two struts are blown. can that cause the shakiness of the steering wheel at certain speed (50mph~60mph)? its shakes pretty bad on the concrete freeway, but reduces when driving on asphalt road. is it the blown strut that is causing this problem or wheel balance....? thank you so much for your time and happy holidays!!

Hi there Anthony and welcome to CL and to your first post.

Bad struts do not generally cause steering wheel shake. The common causes of steering wheel shake are warped rotors and tire imbalance. Even a bad alignment would not cause what you are describing. I understand that you changed your rotors but can you be a bit more specific to how you changed them. Also why do you say the struts are blown?

if you have vibration at certain speed and you are not braking, it's could be that you have wheel balancing issues as well. lexus cars are very sensitive to wheel balancing, so make sure that's clean too

Also check if you have any bent rim in the front.
If you are running aftermarket wheels, make sure you have correct hub-centric rings.

I took the two front rotors out for a resurface, because my car was squeaking when i apply the brake. then i found out that my rotors weren't repairable due to great warpages on both rotors. so i replaced them with new ones. as for the struts, i found oil runs on both front struts. Wheels are off the 06 lexus RX has new tires... hopefully its just tire imbalance... thank you again guys and i will update on this problem by end of today...
