Trunk is soooo Friekin HEAVY!

Dear Members, my trunk seems to be so heavy to lift up from the closed position. Also, when I pop the trunk it jumps like a centimeter. Is that normal? I dunno. Thanks for the feedback.

my trunk pops up like 1/2" as well, that's fine with me since i can stick my fingers in already to open it

i dont' think it's that heavy though, one little lift is all i need. if my wife can do it with ease, then i don't consider it "hard" ;)

struts are probably blown since the darn thang keeps falling on my head if the car is parked on any inclination whatsoever. Thought Toyota would have made more reliable ones.

you too? I thought I was the only one. I got banged in the head a couple times. I have to make sure that I lift and push the trunk lid all the way up so that it doesn't start to go down again.

guys, seems like we get quite a few cases of that huh? my 05 is still ok so far, the trunk doesn't come down on incline or so. hopefully it's not going bad

LOL, Think its time to change out the struts, concusions are not cool.

Trunk struts are a common problem in the older SC's as well. Looks like Lexus didn't fix anything this time!

Rockauto usually has good prices on replacements. Ours are $35-$40 for a set, shoulnd't be much if any more for the new ones.

Lift struts are a problem with every car out there.
I think I replaced them at least once in everything I have owend.

Just replaced mine on a late 02 that was failing for 6 months. Ouch on my head. Paid $225 from Seewell in Dalas. Wish I could have picked them up for much less at the place mentioned. A bit tricky putting on due to access to the ball ends with clips. But I described in another earlier post. Just a bit of brain power. Or whatever. Next time will take 3 minutes and hopefully I can do it for sub $100. That would be nice.
