Default changing stop/tail light?

hello all,

new member with a question: my stop light burnt out and i was wondering if i could change out the bulb myself. the user's manual says to take it into the dealer. i took a quick look in the trunk and it is not readily apparent to me how to access the rear light assembly. thought? thanks.

If the manual says to take it to the dealer, then that's what you should do. I'd go to the dealer with that issue anyway. My dealer would fix at no charge if the car is still under warranty.

the light bulb itself is considered wear and tear item and I don't believe dealer will cover it under warranty unless you know someone there. Believe or not, if you let dealer changes the bulb for you, expect to pay 50 - 60 bucks for it. I was stupid enough to had dealer did such easy task on my 97' SC. There is a thread about swapping 06 taillight on the 02 - 05 model. It should provides you with a good guidance of removing the taillight and changing the bulb itself. Hope this helps.

Default changing lights

I believe the light bulb will be replaced under warranty. My other Lexus was covered as well as my Acura and BMW. Whether it was for 3 or 4 years, it was a bumper to bumper warranty.

Wait a minute; Do you need to remove the freakin' taillight to replace a bulb?
That's unbelievable, especially with incandescent bulbs. And 'un-Lexus-like'.
