changing stop/tail light?
hello all,
new member with a question: my stop light burnt out and i was wondering if i could change out the bulb myself. the user's manual says to take it into the dealer. i took a quick look in the trunk and it is not readily apparent to me how to access the rear light assembly. thought? thanks.

the light bulb itself is considered wear and tear item and I don't believe dealer will cover it under warranty unless you know someone there. Believe or not, if you let dealer changes the bulb for you, expect to pay 50 - 60 bucks for it. I was stupid enough to had dealer did such easy task on my 97' SC. There is a thread about swapping 06 taillight on the 02 - 05 model. It should provides you with a good guidance of removing the taillight and changing the bulb itself. Hope this helps.
if anything the dealer is doing it under good will.
cdmtom, glad you found the thread on how to take off teh taillights. remember, be careful not to scratch the paint on bumper

yes, you have to. and actually, all the lexus i have owned, you have to take out the taillights to change bulbs. gs400, is300, and sc430. not like it's anything ultra hard anyway
