Successful SC430 Key Programming
Boy, I am really struggling with getting a key programmed. I have a 2010 SC430. I have one master key/fob. Trying to program another one. The master key key has written on HYQ12BBT-1551A.
I have tried about 8 cheapo ebay key fobs that were HYQ12BBT and for an SC430. The best I could do was getting the remote controlling the door locks using the key/in door open/close technique. Techmaster gives me a "lost communication" with ECU error everytime.
So, I tried an OEM fob. Part # is 89070-24171. According to Lexuspartsnow this is the correct OEM fob for my vehicle. The key has HYQ12BBK written on it as the FCC ID. Same thing....will not program with my ECU.
I still have the flipkey from above to try, but have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to run into more of the same.
Any help would be appreciated. Will the HYQ12BBK fob work with my car?
Appreciate any insights.

It sounds like the problem is you can't talk to the Security ECU. You are probably better off going to the dealer or an automotive locksmith.
You can go to Amazon or ebay and type in "SC430 key programmer" and buy a little do hickey that will plug into your OBD port and will program your key for you. If you find one that matches your car, they are usually less than $20.
But if it can't talk to your security module, it won't work either.
I would try disconnecting your battery for 10 minutes and then use techstream to try and talk to your car again. It is possible that the car thinks someone is trying to hack the security module and has shut down

Without being there, it's difficult to understand your problem. Does TechStream talk to your vehicle? Can you do all other functions ? Do as DD suggested, disconnect your battery to reboot your SC computer. It might help. Good luck.
Techstream does talk to the ECU. I seemingly have all functions on Techstream.
I still have the Flipkey to try, but it's for a 2002 to 2009. But others on this board had success with it.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with me having a 2010 model. Maybe they ran out of stock SC430 immobilizers and threw in some random one. It's a shot in the dark but I just ordered two fobs for an RX400h which has the same FCC ID

Yes, I would guess that you having a 2010 is a LARGE part of the issue. The 2010 had upgrades the other years did not
Based on that error code, my guess is the chip is not the same as the earlier years

Just wanted to update everyone on my keyfob saga for my 2010 SC430 in case anyone else goes down this rabbit hole. Of course, I tried what everyone else in Toyotal land does which is to oder an aftermarket keyfob that is appropriate for your vehicle. I probably ordered 20 different fobs and none of them worked.
So, I took it to a locksmith....he couldn't get it to program. At this point, my suspicions that my car's immobilizer is a Frankenstein system due to it being the last model year and they only made 300 of them. So, I asked him to "read" the transponder chip. Yup. It was different than the one he was trying to program. So, he successfully cloned a key for me. But why am I having issues?
So, here's what I think is going on. Did some research. My car has the metal key portion of a Lexus...and a immobilizer and transponder chip of an FJ Cruiser. I've ordered some stuff to confirm my suspicions. Willl keep you updated.
